Well, it looks like the winning bidder of the now famous "Size 12 Wedding Dress"
has claimed fowl.  According to
USA Today (and the bidder's About Me page on
eBay) the winning bidder claims someone else used his eBay ID to place the
$3,850 bid.  Sounds more like he figured the dress would either sell for more
and his 'low bid' was safe, or he simply forgot to retract his bid in time and he got
nailed.  In any case, looks like Larry Star (the seller) plans to re-list the dress
according to the
Houston Chronicle.

April 29, 2004
Yesterday's "Size 12 Wedding Dress" auction, made eBay history - but
not due to the winning bid as most people would think, but by the record
numbers of hits the auction received.  By day's end, the auction had
received over 6 million hits and continued to climb.  As of this writing, it
has 7,532,542 hits.  An eBay all-time record.
